Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the power slider appears. Slide to turn off the device completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Heat the Lower Edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front glass, just above the bottom bezel.

Create Display Gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup with firm, constant pressure to create a small gap between the display assembly and the frame.

Insert Opening Pick
1 minInsert an opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge of the phone to hold it open.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick along the bottom and up the sides of the device to cut through the waterproof adhesive seal.

Open the Display
1 minSwing the display open from the left side toward the right like a book. Rest it against a solid object to avoid straining the cables.

Unscrew Logic Board Bracket
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the logic board connector bracket.

Remove Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal display connector bracket from the logic board.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up out of its socket.

Unscrew Speaker Screws
2 minRemove the three Y000 screws and one Phillips screw securing the bottom speaker assembly to the rear enclosure.

Remove Speaker Assembly
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the loudspeaker and gently pry it up out of the lower chassis.

Install New Speaker
2 minSet the replacement loudspeaker into the lower housing, aligning it with the mounting screw holes and lower flex alignment pins.

Secure Speaker Screws
2 minThread and tighten the three Y000 screws and one Phillips screw to secure the loudspeaker in place.

Reconnect Battery Flex
1 minAlign the battery connector over its socket and press down firmly until you feel a gentle snap.

Reinstall Logic Board Bracket
2 minPlace the metal bracket back over the logic board connectors and reinstall the four Y000 screws.

Close the Display
2 minAlign the top edge of the display with the phone frame, then press firmly around the edges to seat the display clips.

Reinstall Pentalobe Screws
2 minThread and tighten the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws into the bottom edge next to the Lightning port.
