Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume up button, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.9 mm P2 pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge of the iPhone next to the Lightning port.

Heat the lower display edge
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer on low heat for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive along the bottom edge.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the front display glass, just above the home indicator area.

Separate the display screen
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick into the bottom seam.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick along the bottom, left, and right edges to cut through the display adhesive sealant.

Open the display screen

Remove the display connector bracket
3 minUnscrew the five Tri-point Y000 screws securing the main board connector bracket and lift it off with tweezers.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its logic board socket.

Disconnect the OLED and touch cables
2 minPry the OLED display cable and digitizer cable press connectors off their logic board sockets.

Disconnect the front sensor assembly
2 minUnplug the front sensor assembly cable connector from the top portion of the logic board.

Separate the display assembly
1 minRemove the display assembly entirely from the chassis and set it aside in a safe, clean space.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or straightened paperclip into the hole to eject and remove the SIM tray.

Remove the rear camera bracket
2 minUnscrew the three Tri-point screws securing the rear camera cover bracket and remove the bracket.

Disconnect the rear camera connectors
2 minDisconnect both rear camera flex cables from the logic board using the pointed end of a spudger.

Disconnect all upper flex cables
4 minCarefully disconnect the audio control flex, power button flex, and antenna cable connectors attached to the logic board.

Remove the logic board screws
4 minUnscrew the three standoff screws and two Phillips screws securing the logic board to the rear housing.

Lift out the logic board
2 minGently pivot the logic board up from the lower edge and lift it out of the rear case assembly.
