Safety
- Always disconnect the battery before removing internal components to prevent short circuits.
- Wear safety glasses when heating glass panels and prying close to internal components.
- Do not puncture or bend the lithium-ion battery during lower component removal.
Overview
Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to switch off the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Warm the lower edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen, just above the bottom edge.

Separate the bottom display seal
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a gap, then insert an opening pick under the lower edge of the screen.

Slice the side perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick up along the left and right edges of the phone to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Open the display
1 minSwing the screen open from the left edge like a book, leaning it against a support to prevent strain on the cables.

Remove the lower connector bracket
2 minUnscrew the three Y000 tri-point screws holding the lower display bracket and lift the bracket off using tweezers.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off its logic board socket using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect display cables
2 minUse a spudger to pry up the display connector and the digitizer touch cable connector from the board.

Remove the upper bracket
2 minRemove the two Y000 screws securing the upper sensor assembly bracket, then remove the bracket.

Detach the screen assembly
2 minDisconnect the front sensor flex connector from the logic board and lift the screen away from the housing.

Unscrew the loudspeaker
2 minRemove the three Phillips #000 screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly to the rear chassis.

Remove the loudspeaker
1 minGently lift the loudspeaker unit up and out of the bottom of the phone frame.

Unscrew the Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws and one Y000 screw holding the Taptic Engine vibration motor in place.

Remove the Taptic Engine
1 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine flex cable connector and lift the module out of the rear case.

Unscrew the microphone assembly
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws retaining the bottom microphone and port flex assembly to the case frame.

Pry up the old microphone assembly
3 minApply light heat to the case back, then use a spudger to gently pry the bottom microphone and flex cable free.

Install the new microphone assembly
3 minAlign the new lower microphone flex cable in the chassis cavity and press it down firmly to adhere.
