Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Side button and volume button until the slider appears. Slide to completely power down the device.

Remove bottom screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.4 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat lower display edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for 60 seconds to soften the display adhesive.

Apply suction cup
1 minPress the suction cup onto the lower half of the screen, just above the Lightning port area.

Insert opening pick
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a slight gap, then slide a plastic opening pick into the seam.

Slice screen adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around the left and right edges of the display to slice through the adhesive seal.

Open display cover
2 minGently lift the left side of the display to open it like a book. Rest it vertically against a stable support.

Unscrew connector bracket
3 minUse a Tri-Point Y000 screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the metal logic board bracket.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its logic board socket.

Disconnect display assembly cables
2 minPry up the sensor assembly connector, OLED display cable connector, and digitizer cable connector from the board.

Separate display assembly
1 minLift the display assembly free from the rear case and place it safely on a clean workspace.

Unscrew speaker module
3 minRemove the three screws holding down the lower speaker assembly near the bottom edge of the case.

Remove speaker module
2 minGently insert a spudger under the top edge of the speaker module and lift it out of the rear case.

Disconnect Taptic Engine connector
1 minUse a spudger to detach the Taptic Engine flex cable connector directly from the logic board socket.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
3 minRemove the Y000 and standoff screws securing the Taptic Engine body to the lower rear enclosure.

Lift out Taptic Engine
1 minGrasp the Taptic Engine with tweezers and carefully lift it out from the bottom of the device.
