Overview
Step-by-step

Power off your iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Side button and either Volume button until the slider appears, then slide to power off completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.9 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Warm the lower edge
2 minApply heat to the lower edge of the iPhone using a heat gun or hair dryer for approximately two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front glass screen, just above the bottom speaker grilles.

Pry open the lower edge
3 minPull firmly up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick into the bottom edge.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the left and right edges of the phone to cut through the water-resistant seal adhesive.

Open the iPhone display
2 minGently swing the display open to the right side like a book cover. Rest it against a solid object so it does not strain the ribbon cables.

Unscrew the bracket shield
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the lower logic board connector bracket.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the display cables
2 minPry up the display flex cable and digitizer cable connectors from the logic board using the pointed end of a spudger.

Separate the display assembly
1 minLift the display assembly completely away from the rear enclosure and place it in a safe area.

Unscrew the lower speaker
3 minRemove the three screws holding the lower speaker assembly and grounding bracket using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the speaker module
2 minLift the speaker module upward out of the rear case and set it aside.

Remove the Taptic Engine
2 minUnscrew the two mounting screws holding the Taptic Engine vibrator and lift it out of the lower chassis.

Unscrew the lower microphone flex
4 minRemove the remaining Phillips screws securing the microphone ports and lower lightning dock assembly to the frame.

Peel up the microphone assembly
4 minUse flat-head tweezers to carefully peel the lower microphone and flexible cable away from the aluminum enclosure.
