Step-by-step

Power Down iPhone
1 minTurn off your iPhone X completely before starting disassembly to avoid electrical short circuits.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.9 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located at the bottom edge next to the Lightning port.

Heat Lower Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front display glass, just above the Lightning port.

Create Lower Gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup with firm, steady pressure to create a small gap between the screen and frame.

Insert Opening Pick
1 minInsert a thin opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge of the device.

Slice Side Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick along the bottom, left, and right edges to cut through the display adhesive sealant.

Open Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left edge like a book. Do not detach the display completely yet.

Unscrew Lower Display Bracket
3 minRemove the five Y000 tri-point screws holding down the lower display cable bracket.

Remove Lower Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal lower display bracket out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect Battery Connector
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the OLED display flex cable and the touch digitizer cable from the logic board.

Remove Upper Sensor Bracket Screws
2 minUnscrew the three Y000 screws securing the upper front sensor assembly bracket.

Disconnect Front Sensor Assembly
2 minDisconnect the front sensor flex cable and remove the entire screen assembly from the device frame.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Assembly
3 minRemove the Phillips and standoff screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly to the case.

Remove Loudspeaker
2 minLift the lower loudspeaker assembly out of the phone housing.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the Y000 screws securing the Taptic Engine vibrating motor.

Remove Taptic Engine
1 minLift the Taptic Engine out of the lower chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew Charging Port Assembly
4 minRemove all Phillips and standoff screws holding the Lightning connector assembly to the bottom enclosure.

Unseat Lower Microphones
3 minCarefully pry the two lower microphones from their recessed slots on either side of the frame.

Peel Up Charging Flex Cable
3 minSlide a flat spudger under the charging port flex cable to detach it from the rear case adhesive.

Remove Old Charging Port
1 minLift the complete charging port assembly out of the iPhone frame.

Install New Charging Port
3 minPosition the new charging port assembly into the lower case and press the adhesive backing firmly into place.
After your Apple iPhone X charging port repair
Power the iPhone X back on and test the charging port repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this Apple iPhone X job before assuming the part is defective.
