Step-by-step

Power Down the iPhone
1 minEnsure your iPhone SE 2022 is completely turned off before starting any disassembly.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Apply Heat to Lower Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for 1-2 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen, just above the Home button.

Slice Display Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic prying tool to slice through the adhesive along the bottom and sides.

Open Display Assembly
2 minSwing the screen open from the left side like a book cover, taking care not to strain the fragile display cables on the right.

Unscrew Lower Shield Bracket
3 minRemove the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the logic board shield cover near the battery and display connectors.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minPry up the display and touch digitizer flex cable connectors from the logic board using a spudger.

Separate Display Assembly
1 minLift the display away from the rear enclosure completely and place it on a clean, static-free surface.

Remove Loudspeaker Screws
3 minUnscrew the five Phillips screws holding down the lower speaker enclosure and microphone bracket.

Extract Loudspeaker Assembly
2 minLift the lower loudspeaker module up and out of the phone casing using plastic prying tools.

Unplug Taptic Engine Flex Cable
1 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine ribbon cable connector from the microphone flex cable assembly.

Remove Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the three Phillips screws securing the Taptic Engine and lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect Microphone Flex Assembly
1 minUnplug the main lower flex cable connector from the logic board near the bottom left corner.

Peel Up Lower Microphone Assembly
4 minGently pry the primary lower microphone capsule and attached flex cable array off the bottom enclosure with tweezers.

Position New Microphone Assembly
4 minAlign the replacement lower microphone and flex cable into the chassis, pressing down on the adhesive backing to secure it.

Reinstall Internal Components
8 minReattach the Taptic Engine, loudspeaker module, display connectors, and battery in reverse order.
