Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button until the slider appears, then slide to power off completely.
- 2
Remove the Pentalobe bottom screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.
- 3
Heat the lower edge of the display
2 minApply a heated pad or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive seal.
- 4
Attach a suction cup near the home button
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower half of the display glass, just above the Home button.
- 5
Prying open the bottom edge
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap between the front panel and rear case, then insert an opening pick into the gap.
- 6
Slice the left edge adhesive
2 minSlide the plastic pick around the bottom-left corner and up the left side of the phone to slice through the display sealant.
- 7
Slice the right edge adhesive
2 minReinsert the pick at the bottom and slide it up the right edge, stopping before the top corner to avoid damaging display cables.
- 8
Open the display panel like a book
1 minSwing the screen open from the left side toward the right, resting it against a sturdy object so it does not pull on fragile flex cables.
- 9
Remove the lower display bracket screws
2 minUse a Y000 Tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the lower display connector bracket.
- 10
Remove the lower display bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift out the metal lower display bracket and set it aside in a organized tray.
- 11
Disconnect the battery connector
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off its motherboard socket.
- 12
Disconnect the display and digitizer cables
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the display cable and digitizer cable press connectors straight off the logic board.
- 13
Remove the upper sensor assembly bracket screws
2 minUnscrew the three Y000 Tri-point screws securing the front panel sensor assembly bracket.
- 14
Disconnect the front sensor assembly flex cable
2 minPry the front camera/sensor assembly cable connector up from its socket on the logic board and detach the front panel completely.
- 15
Unpeel the lower battery adhesive tabs
2 minLocate the two black adhesive pull-tabs at the bottom edge of the battery and gently peel them back with tweezers.
- 16
Pull the lower battery adhesive strips
4 minSlowly pull each adhesive tab at a low angle away from the battery, wrapping the strip around a spudger to maintain even tension.
- 17
Unpeel and pull the upper battery adhesive tab
3 minPeel back the single adhesive tab at the top edge of the battery and carefully pull it flat toward the top of the phone.
- 18
Lift the old battery out

3 minRemove the protective film from the new adhesive strips and press them firmly onto the back of the replacement battery.
- 20

- 22
Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its socket and press firmly until it clicks into position.
- 23
Reinstall metal brackets and screws
3 minPosition the top sensor bracket and lower display bracket back over their cables and secure all original Y000 screws.
