Step-by-step

Power Down iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide to power off. Ensure the screen is completely black before proceeding.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Heat Bottom Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the phone for approximately 90 seconds to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the display assembly, just above the Home button.

Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then insert a plastic opening pick into the seam.

Slice Edge Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick up the left and right edges of the phone to cut through the display adhesive sealant.

Open Display Assembly
1 minGently swing the display open from the left side, like opening the cover of a book, propping it against a stable object at a 90-degree angle.

Unscrew Display Bracket
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the lower display cable bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display cable, touch digitizer cable, and Home button flex cable connectors from their logic board sockets using a spudger.

Separate Display from Frame
1 minLift the entire display assembly off the rear enclosure and place it face-down on a clean, soft surface.

Unscrew Home Button Bracket
2 minRemove the four Y000 tri-point screws securing the metal Home button backing bracket to the rear of the display.

Remove Home Button Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal Home button bracket off the screen assembly and set it aside.

Warm Home Button Cable
2 minApply mild heat from the front lower edge of the screen to soften the adhesive beneath the Home button ribbon cable.

Pry Up Home Button Ribbon
2 minCarefully slide a spudger beneath the Home button flex cable to separate the adhesive from the back of the display glass.

Push Out Home Button
1 minGently press the Home button assembly from the front face of the screen inward until it pops out through the back.
