   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide to power off. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before proceeding.

   Remove pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws on the bottom edge of the iPhone. Place them in a safe tray to avoid losing them.

   Heat the lower display edge

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes. This softens the display adhesive sealing the perimeter.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower half of the front glass, just above the Home button. Ensure a tight seal against the screen surface.

   Lift the display assembly

   Pull up on the suction cup with firm, constant pressure to create a small gap between the glass and the phone frame. Do not yank forceably.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert the point of an opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge of the phone. Keep the pick flat to avoid damaging internal display flex cables.

   Slice the lower right adhesive

   Slide the pick around the bottom right corner and up the right side of the phone. Slice through the adhesive holding the display in place.

   Slice the lower left adhesive

   Reinsert the pick at the bottom edge and slide it around the bottom left corner up to the volume buttons. Stop before reaching the top left corner.

   Release the top display clips

   Gently slide the pick under the top edge of the display to slice the remaining adhesive seal. Take care not to damage the top sensor array.

    Open the display like a book

    Remove the suction cup and swing the display open from the right side, like opening a book cover. Prop the screen up against a box or wall to prevent cable strain.

    Unscrew the lower display bracket

    Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding down the lower connector bracket. Note screw locations as they are different lengths.

    Remove the lower metal bracket

    Use tweezers to lift out the lower connector shield and set it aside safely. This exposes the battery and display cable connections.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use the pointed end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board. Keep the connector bent away slightly to prevent contact.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Pry the display cable connector straight up from the logic board using the spudger. Be careful not to bend the delicate press connector.

    Disconnect the digitizer cable

    Use the edge of your spudger to disconnect the lower digitizer press connector directly beneath the display connector.

    Unscrew the upper sensor bracket

    Remove the three Y000 tri-point screws securing the upper sensor assembly bracket at the top right of the logic board.

    Remove the upper bracket

    Lift off the upper metal bracket with tweezers and set it aside with its corresponding screws.

    Disconnect the front sensor cable

    Disconnect the front panel sensor assembly flex cable from its logic board socket using a plastic spudger.

    Separate display from the enclosure

    Lift the display assembly entirely away from the rear enclosure and place it on a clean, soft surface.

    Uncover the adhesive tabs

    Locate the black adhesive pull-tab tips at the top and bottom edges of the battery. Peel back the black tabs with tweezers to expose the white stretch adhesive strips.

    Pull the lower left adhesive strip

    Grasp the lower left pull-tab and slowly pull it straight down, keeping it flat and close to the chassis. Keep pulling smoothly until the entire strip releases.

    Pull the lower right adhesive strip

    Slowly pull the lower right adhesive tab out from under the battery at a flat angle. If it snaps, use isopropyl alcohol to soften the remaining adhesive.

    Pull the upper adhesive strips

    Peel and pull the two upper adhesive tabs away from the top edge of the battery in the same smooth, low-angle motion.

    Lift out the old battery

    Gently lift the old battery out of the rear case using a plastic card if needed. Never use metal tools or bend the battery casing.

    Apply new battery adhesive strips

    Remove the protective backing from new adhesive strips and adhere them flat to the underside of the replacement battery. Smooth down any air bubbles.

    Set the new battery in place

    Align the replacement battery in the case cavity, briefly connecting it to verify alignment before pressing it firmly onto the rear chassis.

    Reconnect display and sensor cables

    Attach the top sensor cable, lower digitizer, and main display connectors to the logic board. Press firmly until each snaps cleanly into place.

    Reconnect battery and reassemble case

    Snap the battery connector onto the board, reinstall all metal brackets with their screws, close the screen frame, and replace the two bottom pentalobe screws.
