Step-by-step

Power off and remove SIM tray
2 minEnsure the iPhone is completely powered down. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole to remove the SIM tray.

Remove bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.9 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Lift the lower glass panel
2 minAttach a suction cup to the screen just above the Home button and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Unclip Touch ID cable bracket
3 minInsert a spudger into the gap to unhook the metal bracket covering the Touch ID flex cable connector.

Disconnect the Touch ID flex cable
2 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the Touch ID cable connector straight up from its socket.

Open display to a 90-degree angle
1 minSwing the bottom edge of the display open like a book, keeping it angled at 90 degrees relative to the body.

Remove battery connector bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws holding the battery bracket in place and lift it out with tweezers.

Disconnect the battery connector
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the logic board using a plastic spudger.

Remove display cable shield
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the upper display cable shield and set the shield aside.

Disconnect display assembly flex cables
3 minUse a spudger to disconnect the front camera, digitizer, and LCD cables from their sockets on the board.

Separate display from enclosure
1 minLift the display assembly away from the rear enclosure and store it in a safe location.

Disconnect rear camera flex cable
3 minRemove the metal bracket covering the rear camera connector and pop the camera cable off the board.

Disconnect lower antenna cable
2 minCarefully pry the lower cellular antenna coaxial cable connector off the bottom corner of the logic board.

Disconnect upper and lower flex cables
3 minPry up the volume/power button flex cable and the main Lightning/audio flex cable connectors from the board.

Remove logic board mounting screws
4 minUnscrew the standoffs and Phillips screws holding the top and middle sections of the logic board to the frame.

Remove logic board from frame
3 minGently pivot the logic board up from the top edge and lift it out, taking care not to snag any lingering cables.
