Power Off the iPhone
1 minTurn off your iPhone 8 completely before starting any disassembly.

Remove Pentalobe Screws

2 minRemove the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the metal bracket over the battery and display connectors.

1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal connector bracket off the logic board and set it aside.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using the pointed tip of a spudger.

Unscrew Taptic Engine Shield
2 minRemove the Tri-point Y000 screws securing the small grounding shield located above the Taptic Engine.

Remove Taptic Engine Shield
1 minLift the grounding shield off the assembly using precision tweezers.

Disconnect Taptic Engine
1 minGently pry the Taptic Engine flex cable connector straight up from its logic board socket.

Remove Taptic Engine Screws
2 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding the Taptic Engine body to the lower rear case.

Lift Out Taptic Engine
1 minCarefully lift the failed Taptic Engine out of the chassis with tweezers.

Install New Taptic Engine
3 minPosition the replacement Taptic Engine into place, reconnect its flex cable, and secure it with the mounting screws.
