Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone

Remove Pentalobe screws

Warm the lower edge

3 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a slight gap, then insert a plastic prying tool to slice through the adhesive around all edges.

Remove lower bracket screws
2 minUnscrew the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower logic board display cable bracket, then remove the metal plate.

Disconnect display cables
2 minPry up the lower display cable and digitizer press connectors from the logic board using a spudger.

Detach display assembly

Remove loudspeaker assembly
3 minUnscrew the mounting screws securing the lower speaker enclosure and lift the speaker module out.

Remove Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the screws retaining the Taptic Engine vibration motor and use tweezers to lift it out of the chassis.

Unscrew microphone assembly
3 minRemove all remaining screws holding the lower primary microphone and Lightning assembly to the internal frame.

Pry up microphone flex cable
3 minInsert a flat spudger underneath the lower flex cable to gently peel the primary microphone and port off the enclosure.

Install new microphone assembly
3 minPosition the new microphone and flex assembly into the chassis, pressing firmly so the adhesive sticks.

Reassemble internal components
5 minReinstall the Taptic Engine and loudspeaker, reconnect display cables and battery, reattach brackets, and close the display.
