Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide to power down completely.

Unscrew the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on the bottom edge of the phone.

Heat the lower adhesive
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to the bottom edge of the device for 90 seconds to soften the waterproof seal.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the glass screen, just above the Home button.

Slice the display adhesive
4 minPull up gently on the suction cup while inserting a plastic spudger into the gap along the bottom and left edges.

3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the metal bracket over the display and battery connectors.

2 minPry up the lower display cable connector and the digitizer cable connector from the logic board.

Remove the upper bracket
3 minRemove the three Phillips #000 screws securing the upper sensor assembly bracket, then lift the bracket out with tweezers.

Disconnect the sensor flex cable
2 minDisconnect the upper front sensor assembly cable connector from the board, then separate the screen completely.

Remove the rear camera
3 minUnscrew the camera bracket, disconnect the rear camera press connector, and lift the camera module out of the frame.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the pinhole on the right edge to pop out the SIM card tray.

Remove the logic board screws
5 minRemove the standoff screws and Phillips screws securing the top and bottom sections of the logic board to the housing.

Disconnect upper antenna cables
3 minDisconnect the Wi-Fi antenna flex cables and grounding clips along the upper edge of the logic board.

Lift out the logic board
2 minGently pivot the logic board up from the bottom edge and remove it from the rear enclosure.
