Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide to power off. Ensure the screen is completely black before proceeding.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Heat lower edge of display
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer set on low to the bottom edge of the phone for 90 seconds to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front display glass, just above the Home button.

Create initial display opening
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap between the front panel and rear case. Insert a plastic prying tool into the gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the prying tool around the bottom and left edges of the phone to slice through the adhesive seal. Do not insert the tool deeper than 3 mm.

Open display like a book
2 minGently lift the left edge of the screen up and open the display to the right side, resting it against a stable object at a 90-degree angle.

Remove lower bracket screws
3 minUse a Y000 Tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the lower display cable bracket to the logic board.

Remove lower display bracket
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the metal lower display cable bracket off the logic board and place it aside.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect display cables
2 minPry the lower display data connector and the touch digitizer cable connector straight up from their sockets.

Remove upper sensor bracket screws
2 minRemove the three Tri-point Y000 screws securing the upper sensor assembly bracket.

Disconnect front camera cable
2 minUse tweezers to lift off the upper bracket, then disconnect the front camera and sensor assembly cable connector.

Separate display from housing
1 minLift the display assembly completely off the rear housing and set the housing aside in a safe place.

Remove home button bracket screws
3 minUse a Y000 Tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the Home button bracket to the back of the display.

Remove home button bracket
1 minLift the metal Home button bracket up and off the display panel using tweezers.

Disconnect home button ribbon
2 minPry the Home button connector cable up from its socket on the display underlying cable.

Warm home button adhesive
1 minApply light heat to the front bottom area of the display screen for 30 seconds to soften the glue under the Home button ribbon cable.

Remove home button assembly
3 minCarefully pry the delicate Home button cable off the display glass and push the Home button through the front of the display panel.
