Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide to power off completely.

Remove the Pentalobe screws
2 minUnbolt the two 3.5 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge near the Lightning port.

Heat the lower edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the screen, positioned just above the Home button.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert an opening pick under the lower glass edge.

Slice the side adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick up the left and right edges of the display to cut through the remaining perimeter adhesive.

Open the display
1 minSwing the screen open from the left side like a book, resting it against a sturdy box so it does not strain the ribbon cables.

Remove the lower connector bracket screws
2 minUnscrew the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower display assembly bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect the display cables
2 minPry up the lower display connector, the touch digitizer cable, and the top assembly sensor connector from the logic board.

Remove the display assembly
1 minSeparate the display assembly completely from the rear case and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the Taptic Engine bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws holding the grounding bracket over the Taptic Engine.

Remove the loudspeaker screws
2 minUnscrew the three Phillips screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the lower portion of the rear enclosure.

Lift out the loudspeaker
1 minGently insert a spudger beneath the loudspeaker and lift the assembly up and out of the phone body.
