Step-by-step

Power Down iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Drag the slider to power off the device completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat Lower Edge
2 minApply heat using a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the iPhone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the front display assembly, positioning it just above the Home button.

Create Display Gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup with firm pressure to create a small gap between the display panel and the aluminum frame.

Slice Lower Adhesive
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge and carefully slide it left and right to cut the adhesive.

Slice Side Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick up along the left and right edges of the device to cut through the remaining display adhesive.

Open Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left side like a book cover. Do not fully remove the screen yet.

Remove Lower Bracket Screws
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding down the lower display cable bracket.

Remove Lower Cable Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal lower display cable bracket from the logic board.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minPry up the lower display cable connector and the touch ID display connector using the edge of a spudger.

Remove Upper Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the three Tri-point Y000 screws securing the upper front panel sensor assembly bracket.

Detach Upper Sensor Connector
2 minDisconnect the upper front sensor assembly cable connector from the logic board and set the main body aside.

Remove Home Button Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the metal Home button bracket to the display panel.

Remove Home Button Bracket
1 minLift and remove the metal Home button bracket off the screen assembly using tweezers.

Disconnect Home Button Cable
2 minUse the tip of a spudger to disconnect the underlying Home button ribbon cable connector from its socket.

Remove Home Button Assembly
3 minApply mild heat to the lower front glass, then gently pry up the Home button flex cable and push the button through the display.
