Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the sleep/wake button, then slide the screen toggle to turn off your iPhone 6s completely.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.4 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower left corner of the screen, just above the home button.

Create lower gap
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening pick between the display assembly and the rear case.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the lower left and right edges of the phone to cut through the display adhesive.

Prop open the display
2 minGently lift the home button end of the screen up to a 90-degree angle and lean it against a stable object.

Unscrew battery connector bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal battery bracket to the logic board.

Remove battery bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the battery cable cover plate out of the phone.

Disconnect the battery
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using the flat edge of a spudger.

Disconnect Taptic Engine connector
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the Taptic Engine press connector up off the logic board.

Remove Taptic Engine screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws that hold the Taptic Engine assembly to the rear enclosure.

Remove original Taptic Engine
1 minUse tweezers to lift the faulty Taptic Engine straight out of the phone casing.

Insert new Taptic Engine
2 minLower the replacement Taptic Engine into the chassis and align it with its mounting screw holes.

Fasten Taptic Engine screws
2 minThread and tighten the two Phillips screws to secure the Taptic Engine in place.

Attach Taptic Engine connector
1 minAlign the press connector over its socket on the logic board and press down gently until it snaps in.

Reconnect battery press connector
1 minPress the battery cable connector back into its socket on the logic board.

Reinstall battery bracket
2 minPlace the metal battery bracket over the connector and secure it with the two Phillips screws.

Close the display
2 minLower the screen flush onto the rear enclosure and press along the edges until the clips click into place.

Reinstall pentalobe screws
2 minInsert and tighten the two 3.4 mm P2 Pentalobe screws into the bottom of the device.
