Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears. Slide to turn off the iPhone completely before starting disassembly.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.4 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the screen just above the Home button assembly. Ensure a firm seal against the glass.

Pry open the display edge
2 minPull up on the suction cup while pressing down on the rear enclosure. Insert a spudger into the slight gap created at the bottom edge.

Slice the side frame adhesive
2 minSlide the spudger along the left and right edges to break through the display adhesive. Do not open the screen past 90 degrees.

Unscrew the battery cable bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the battery connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up out of its socket on the logic board.

Unscrew the display cable bracket
2 minRemove the four Phillips screws holding the display cable bracket in place at the upper right of the device.

Disconnect the display cables
3 minDisconnect the front camera flex, digitizer flex, and display cable connectors from the logic board using a spudger.

Separate display from the rear case
1 minLift the display assembly away from the rear enclosure and set it aside in a safe, clean location.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the loudspeaker module to the bottom right of the rear housing.

Remove the original loudspeaker
2 minUse a spudger to lift the loudspeaker from its recessed location in the case, disconnecting the ground clip contact beneath it.

Position the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker assembly in the bottom corner of the housing, ensuring the contact spring seats properly.

Secure the loudspeaker screws
2 minReinstall the two Phillips screws to firmly fasten the new loudspeaker module into the rear enclosure.
