Step-by-step

Power Down iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then slide the screen toggle to turn off the iPhone completely.

Remove Bottom Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 3.4 mm Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning charging connector.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower left corner of the display assembly, just above the Home button.

Separate Display Glass
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening pick between the display and rear case.

Open Display Assembly
2 minSwing the bottom edge of the display open like a book, propping it upright at a 90-degree angle against a stable object.

Unscrew Battery Bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the lower metal battery connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Unscrew Display Bracket
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws securing the metal display cable bracket in the upper right corner.

Disconnect Display Cables
3 minUse the edge of a spudger to disconnect the front camera, digitizer, and LCD cables, then set the display assembly aside.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Assembly
4 minRemove the six Phillips screws securing the loudspeaker and Taptic Engine housing to the bottom of the case.

Remove Loudspeaker Module
2 minGently lift the loudspeaker module up and out of the bottom edge of the rear enclosure.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
2 minPry up the tiny coaxial antenna connector attached to the lower microphone flex assembly using precision tweezers.

Unscrew Dock Assembly
4 minRemove the remaining Phillips screws securing the Lightning connector and microphone assembly to the bottom case.

Peel Up Primary Microphone
3 minInsert an opening pick beneath the microphone and dock flex assembly to gently break the underlying adhesive.

Install New Microphone Cable
4 minAlign and press the new dock flex cable with integrated microphone flat into position against the rear enclosure.
