Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.4 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Apply suction cup to the screen
2 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front panel, just above the Home button.

Pry open the lower display edge
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while inserting the edge of a plastic prying tool into the seam above the headphone jack.

Slice the display adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic opening tool along the bottom and side edges to break through the adhesive sealing the display.

Open the display assembly
1 minGently hinge the bottom of the screen open to a 90-degree angle relative to the rear enclosure.

Remove the battery connector bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws securing the battery cable bracket and lift the bracket off using tweezers.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to pop the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Remove the display cable bracket
2 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws holding the display cable bracket and remove the bracket.

Disconnect the display cables
2 minPry up the front camera flex, digitizer, and LCD connector cables from their sockets on the logic board.

Separate the display assembly
1 minLift the front screen assembly away from the rear enclosure and place it aside in a safe spot.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the SIM tray hole and push firmly to eject the SIM tray.

Remove the rear camera bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the rear camera bracket and lift it away.

Disconnect the rear camera
2 minPry the rear camera press connector straight up and lift the camera module out of its housing.

Disconnect upper antenna connectors
2 minDisconnect the Wi-Fi antenna and power/volume control ribbon cables from the top section of the logic board.

Disconnect lower ribbon cables
2 minUnplug the Lightning connector cable flex connector and cellular antenna cable from the bottom of the board.

Remove logic board screws
3 minUnscrew the standoff screws and Phillips screws holding the logic board to the aluminum rear casing.

Remove the logic board
2 minCarefully pivot the logic board out from the enclosure, making sure no cables snag during removal.
