Turn Off the iPhone

Remove the Pentalobe Screws

2 minApply mild heat from a heat gun or hairdryer to the bottom edge of the phone to soften the adhesive.

Pry Open the Screen Gap
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening pick into the gap above the headphone jack.

Slice the Perimeter Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the bottom and up the left and right sides to cut through the display seal.

Open the Display
2 minGently swing the home button end of the display up to a 90-degree angle, resting it against a sturdy object.

Remove the Battery Bracket Screws
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the battery cable bracket.

1 minPry the digitizer ribbon cable connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the Display Cable
1 minDisconnect the main display data cable connector from the logic board.

Separate Screen from Rear Case
1 minLift the display assembly away from the rear case and place it face down on a clean surface.

Remove Home Button Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the three Phillips screws holding the home button bracket to the back of the display.

1 minLift the metal home button bracket off the display assembly.

Disconnect the Home Button Cable
2 minUse the point of a spudger to pry the home button cable connector off its socket on the flex cable.

Connect Display Cables
3 minAttach the display, digitizer, and front camera cable connectors to their sockets on the logic board.
