Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then slide the screen slider to turn off the device completely.

Remove bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.4 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the display assembly, positioned just above the home button.

Pry open the lower edge
3 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic opening pick into the lower seam.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic opening pick around the lower and side edges to break the water-resistant adhesive.

Pivot display upright
2 minTilt the top edge of the display open to a 90-degree angle and prop it against a sturdy object.

Unscrew display cable bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the metal display cable bracket.

Remove display cable bracket
1 minLift the display cable shield out of the phone using tweezers.

Disconnect screen flex cables
3 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the camera, digitizer, and display cables straight up from their sockets.

Separate display from frame
1 minSet the rear case assembly aside and lay the display assembly face-down on a soft surface.

Unscrew home button bracket
2 minRemove the three Phillips #000 screws securing the metal bracket over the home button.

Remove home button bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the home button bracket from the display assembly.

Disconnect home button ribbon
2 minPry the home button connector off its socket on the display ribbon cable using a spudger.

Warm home button adhesive
2 minApply mild heat from a hair dryer to the front lower glass for 20 seconds to soften the cable adhesive.

Pry home button cable
2 minGently slide a flat spudger under the home button ribbon cable to separate it from the glass.

Push home button free
1 minApply gentle downward pressure on the front side of the home button to release it from the display panel.
