Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Power button until the slider appears, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front glass panel, right above the Home button.

Pry open lower screen assembly
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening tool into the gap between the glass and the aluminum body.

Lift display to 90 degrees
1 minGently hinge the lower edge of the display assembly up to a 90-degree angle relative to the rear case.

Unscrew battery bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the metal battery connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off its socket on the logic board.

Unscrew the vibrator motor
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the vibrator motor assembly to the lower edge of the rear case.

Remove the vibrator motor
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the original vibrator motor out of the rear case.

Install the new vibrator motor
2 minPosition the replacement vibrator motor in place, aligning its gold spring contacts with the corresponding board pads.

Secure vibrator motor screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the two Phillips #00 screws to hold the vibrator motor firmly in place.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign the battery connector over its socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reattach battery bracket
2 minPlace the metal battery bracket over the connector and tighten the two Phillips #00 screws to secure it.

Close the display assembly
2 minLower the screen gently, ensure top alignment hooks seat properly, and press along the sides to snap it closed.

Reinstall bottom pentalobe screws
2 minInsert and tighten the two P2 Pentalobe screws into the bottom edge of the frame.
