Step-by-step

Power Down iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the power slider appears on screen. Slide to turn off the iPhone completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm screws next to the Lightning charging port.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the screen glass just above the Home button assembly.

Pry Open Display Glass
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while holding down the rear case with a plastic opening tool to create a gap.

Separate Display Clips
3 minInsert a plastic spudger into the gap and slide it along the sides to unclip the screen assembly from the enclosure.

Open Display Assembly
1 minGently tilt the display assembly open from the Home button end, pivoting at the top edge like a book up to 90 degrees.

2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the metal battery connector bracket to the logic board.

1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the metal battery connector cover off the board.

1 minLift the display cable shield bracket off the logic board with tweezers.

Disconnect Front Camera Cable
2 minPry the front camera and sensor flex cable connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Digitizer Cable
2 minDisconnect the digitizer flex cable from its connector on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect Display Data Cable
2 minPry the LCD display cable connector straight up off the board.

Separate Screen from Rear Case
1 minLift the front screen assembly entirely away from the rear enclosure.

Unscrew Home Button Bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the Home button bracket to the display panel.

Remove Home Button Bracket
1 minLift the metal Home button bracket off the display assembly.

Detach Home Button Flex Cable
2 minGently slide a spudger under the Home button ribbon cable to free it from the adhesive.

Remove Home Button Assembly
2 minPush the Home button gently through the front glass from the outside and lift it out from the back.

2 minRemove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the earpiece speaker bracket at the top of the display.

2 minLift the metal bracket and earpiece speaker off the display frame with tweezers.

3 minPry up the front camera flex cable and sensor module gently to free them from the adhesive.

Unscrew LCD Shield Plate
4 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws lining the edges and top of the LCD metal shield plate.

Remove LCD Shield Plate
1 minLift the LCD metal shield plate off the back of the old display assembly.

Install Components on New Screen
8 minMount the shield plate, front camera flex cable, earpiece speaker, and Home button assembly onto the replacement screen.

Reconnect Display Cables
3 minConnect the display, digitizer, and camera cables to their respective sockets on the logic board.

Secure Cable Brackets and Battery
4 minReinstall the display cable bracket, reconnect the battery connector, and secure the battery cover plate with screws.

Reassemble Case and Fasten Screws
3 minAlign the top plastic hooks of the display into the frame, press the edges down firmly, and reinsert the bottom two Pentalobe screws.
