Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the sleep/wake button, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the Pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe screws on either side of the Lightning connector using a P2 driver.

Attach the suction cup tool
1 minPress the suction cup onto the screen directly above the Home button to create a strong seal.

Pry open the front display panel
3 minPull up on the suction cup while using a plastic prying tool to gently separate the display from the rear case.

Remove the display cable bracket
2 minRemove the five Phillips #000 screws securing the display cable bracket, then lift the bracket out with tweezers.

Disconnect display flex cables
3 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop off the front camera, digitizer, display, and home button flex cables.

Separate display from rear enclosure
1 minLift the entire display assembly away from the rear enclosure and set it aside safely.

Remove the battery connector bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws securing the battery bracket to the logic board and remove it.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Remove the rear camera bracket and cable
3 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the camera bracket, lift it out, and disconnect the camera press connector.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the SIM tray hole to pop the tray out from the side.

Disconnect top and bottom logic board cables
3 minDisconnect the antenna cable, volume button flex, and power button flex cables from the board using a spudger.

Remove the upper antenna bracket
2 minUnscrew the four Phillips screws holding the top antenna bracket in place and lift the bracket off.

Remove logic board standoff screws
4 minRemove the standoff screws and remaining Phillips screws securing the logic board to the aluminum chassis.

Lift out the logic board
2 minCarefully pivot the bottom edge of the logic board up and maneuver it out of the rear case.
