Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the Power button until the slider appears, then slide to turn off the iPhone 5S.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.9 mm screws on either side of the Lightning connector.

Apply Suction Cup
2 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the screen just above the Home button assembly.

Unhook Touch ID Flex Bracket
3 minGently pull up on the suction cup to open a small gap, then use tweezers to pop off the metal bracket covering the Touch ID cable connector.

Disconnect Touch ID Cable
2 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the Touch ID cable connector straight up from its socket.

Remove Display Cable Shield Screws
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the front panel assembly cable bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect Display Assembly Cables
3 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the front-facing camera, digitizer, and LCD cables.

Remove Battery Connector Bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal battery connector bracket and lift it off.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from the logic board using a plastic spudger.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the right side of the phone to eject the SIM tray.

Disconnect Lightning Connector Cable
2 minPry the Lightning connector assembly flex cable straight up off its socket on the logic board.

Unplug Antenna Cable
2 minCarefully pry the coaxial antenna cable off the bottom right corner of the logic board.

Disconnect Power and Volume Flex Cable
2 minDisconnect the upper ribbon cable connector for the volume, mute, and power buttons located near the top of the board.

Remove Rear Camera Bracket and Camera
3 minRemove two Phillips screws securing the camera bracket, lift the bracket out, and disconnect the rear camera.

Remove Logic Board Screws
4 minRemove the upper and lower standoff screws and remaining Phillips screws attaching the logic board to the rear case.

Lift Logic Board Out of Enclosure
3 minCarefully maneuver the logic board up and out of the rear case, ensuring no cables catch on components.
