Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears, then slide to turn off the phone completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.9 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning dock connector.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the screen glass directly above the Home button.

Slightly lift the display
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup while holding the rear case to open a small gap at the bottom of the screen.

Unhook the Touch ID cable bracket
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift and remove the small metal bracket covering the Touch ID flex cable connector.

Disconnect the Touch ID cable
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to gently pop the Touch ID flex cable connector out of its socket.

Open the display panel
1 minSwing the bottom of the display assembly open to a 90-degree angle relative to the rear case.

Remove the display cable bracket screws
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the display cable bracket to the logic board.

Remove the display cable bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal display cable bracket out of the device.

Disconnect the display flex cables
2 minUse the flat edge of a spudger to disconnect the front camera, digitizer, and LCD flex cables.

Separate the display assembly
1 minLift the display assembly away from the rear case and place it on a clean work surface.

Remove the Home button bracket screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal Home button bracket to the display frame.

Remove the Home button bracket
1 minLift the metal bracket off the Home button assembly.

Pry up the Home button flex cable
2 minGently insert the edge of a spudger under the flex cable adhesive to separate it from the display panel.

Press out the Home button
2 minGently press the top edge of the Home button from the front side inward until the gasket frees from the glass.

Install the new Home button
3 minAlign the replacement Home button into the display cutout from the back and press the adhesive ring firmly into place.
