Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears on screen. Slide the toggle to power down the iPhone completely.

Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the front glass panel directly above the Home button. Press down firmly to create a tight seal.

Pry Up the Screen Assembly
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening tool into the lower seam. Pry upward to unclip the front panel from the rear case.

Remove Display Connector Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the display cable bracket at the top right of the logic board.

Remove Display Connector Bracket
1 minLift the metal display cable bracket off the logic board with tweezers and set it aside safely.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up the front-facing camera, digitizer, and LCD connector cables from their sockets.

Separate Display Assembly
1 minLift the entire display assembly away from the rear case and store it in a clean location.

Remove Battery Bracket Screws
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws holding the battery connector metal bracket in place near the lower right side.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery flex connector straight up off the logic board using the tip of a spudger.

Disconnect Dock Flex Cable
1 minDisconnect the lower dock flex cable connector from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect Coaxial Antenna
1 minCarefully pry up the round antenna cable connector from the bottom of the logic board.

Remove Loudspeaker Screws
3 minRemove the seven Phillips #000 screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly to the bottom frame.

Remove Loudspeaker Unit
2 minGently lift the black loudspeaker module out of the bottom section of the rear case.

Peel Up Microphone Cable
3 minUse a spudger to carefully peel the microphone gasket and Lightning connector flex ribbon away from the aluminum case.

Install Replacement Microphone Flex
3 minAlign the new microphone and dock flex assembly in the chassis and press down firmly to set the adhesive.
