Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears, then slide to turn off the iPhone completely.

Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the screen directly above the home button and press down firmly to create a seal.

Pry Open the Display Assembly
3 minPull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to gently pry the display away from the rear case.

Remove Battery Connector Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal battery connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Remove Display Cable Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws holding the display assembly cable bracket in place at the top corner.

Disconnect Display Cables
3 minUse a spudger to carefully disconnect the front-facing camera, digitizer, and display LCD cables.

Separate Display from Rear Case
1 minLift the front glass panel completely off the rear case assembly and set the rear case aside.

Remove Home Button Bracket Screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal home button bracket to the display panel.

Remove Home Button Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal home button bracket off the assembly and place it aside.

Peel Up Home Button Flex Cable
2 minGently insert a spudger under the home button ribbon cable to separate the adhesive securing it to the panel.

Remove Home Button
2 minPress gently on the rubber gasket from the front glass side to free the home button from the display.

Install New Home Button
3 minPosition the new home button into the front panel opening and press the ribbon cable gently onto the adhesive.
