Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the sleep/wake button until the power slider appears. Slide to turn off your iPhone completely before starting.

Remove Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector port.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the screen, just above the Home button.

Pry display assembly open
3 minGently pull up on the suction cup while using a plastic opening tool to prying the screen assembly upward from the rear case.

Lift display to vertical position
2 minSlowly open the display to a 90-degree angle relative to the rear case. Do not open it past 90 degrees as top ribbon cables are still attached.

Unscrew display cable bracket
2 minRemove the two 1.2 mm Phillips screws and one 1.6 mm Phillips screw securing the metal display cable shield to the logic board.

Remove display cable bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal display cable bracket off the logic board.

Disconnect display flex cables
3 minUse a flat spudger to disconnect the front-facing camera cable, digitizer cable, and LCD cable from their sockets on the logic board.

Separate screen from body
1 minLift the entire display assembly away from the rear case and place it in a safe area.

Unscrew vibrator motor
2 minLocate the vibrator motor in the top right corner of the rear case and remove its two 1.8 mm Phillips #000 screws.

Remove vibrator motor
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the vibrator motor assembly out of the rear case.

Install new vibrator motor
2 minPlace the replacement vibrator motor into position and secure it with the two 1.8 mm Phillips #000 screws.
