Step-by-step

Power off iPhone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then slide to turn off your iPhone completely before beginning disassembly.

Remove Pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning connector at the bottom of the device.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the front glass screen directly above the Home button.

Lift front panel
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup while using a plastic prying tool to separate the display assembly from the rear case.

Remove display bracket screws
2 minUnscrew the three Phillips screws securing the metal display cable bracket to the logic board.

Remove display bracket
1 minUse tweezers to carefully remove the display cable bracket from the main board.

Disconnect front camera flex
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the front-facing camera and sensor cable.

Disconnect digitizer flex
1 minPry the digitizer cable connector straight up off its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect LCD flex
2 minDisconnect the LCD cable connector and lift the display assembly away from the rear case.

Remove battery bracket screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the metal battery connector bracket.

Disconnect battery
1 minPry the battery connector up from the logic board to power down the board completely.

Disconnect dock connector flex
1 minPry the Lightning connector flex cable up off its socket on the logic board.

Remove lower speaker screws
3 minUnscrew the seven Phillips screws securing the speaker enclosure and Lightning connector assembly.

Remove speaker enclosure
2 minLift the loudspeaker module up and out of the bottom section of the rear case.

Pry up microphone and flex assembly
3 minGently slide a spudger under the microphone and dock flex assembly to release it from the casing adhesive.

Install new microphone assembly
3 minAlign the replacement microphone flex assembly in the lower case and press firmly to set the adhesive.
