Step-by-step

Unscrew Dock Port Screws
2 minRemove the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe screws located on either side of the 30-pin dock connector port.

Slide Off Rear Panel
2 minPush the rear panel upward toward the top edge of the iPhone until it moves about 2 mm. Lift the rear panel away from the chassis.

Detach Battery Connector Bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the battery connector bracket to the logic board. Lift the metallic bracket out of the chassis.

Pry Up Battery Connector
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Remove Battery
3 minPull the clear plastic pull tab to lift the battery off the adhesive holding it to the rear case.

Remove Dock Connector Cover
2 minRemove the two screws securing the dock connector cable cover plate. Lift the bracket out of the phone.

Disconnect Cable Connectors
2 minPry the dock connector ribbon cable straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
2 minUnplug the lower cellular antenna coaxial cable from the bottom right corner of the logic board.

Disconnect Rear Camera
3 minUnclip the rear camera bracket, disconnect the camera ribbon cable, and lift the camera module out of the case.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole beside the SIM tray to release and remove the tray.

Unclip Upper Wi-Fi Antenna Bracket
4 minRemove the five screws holding the top Wi-Fi antenna and grounding bracket, then lift the bracket away.

Disconnect Top Ribbon Cables
4 minUse a spudger to carefully pop off the five ribbon cables attached to the top edge of the logic board.

Remove Logic Board Screws
3 minRemove the remaining logic board retaining screws, including the internal standoff screw near the rear camera well.

Lift Out Logic Board
3 minCarefully tilt the bottom of the logic board up and slide it down and out of the chassis, avoiding snagging any loose ribbon cables.
