   Remove bottom docking screws

   Use a Pentalobe or Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm screws located on either side of the dock connector.

   Slide off the rear panel

   Push the rear panel gently upward toward the top of the phone until it slides up about 2 mm. Lift the panel away from the frame and set it aside.

   Unscrew the battery connector

   Remove the single 2.5 mm Phillips screw securing the battery connector bracket to the logic board. Take care not to lose the tiny contact clip located beneath the bracket.

   Detach battery and remove

   Insert a spudger under the battery connector and gently pop it off the socket. Pull the clear plastic tab firmly upward to break the adhesive and lift out the battery.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or bent paperclip into the small hole on the right edge of the frame. Push inward to eject the tray and remove it.

   Remove top logic board shield

   Unscrew the five Phillips screws holding the top metal cable cover plate in place. Lift the shield off the board using tweezers.

   Disconnect top ribbon cables

   Use the flat edge of a spudger to carefully disconnect the display, digitizer, headphone jack, front camera, and volume button ribbon cables.

   Remove the rear camera

   Unplug the camera connector cable from the top right corner of the board. Lift the rear camera module out of its recessed housing.

   Disconnect dock connector ribbon

   Pry the lower dock ribbon cable connector straight up off the logic board. Peel the ribbon away from the inner chassis.

    Remove the speaker assembly

    Remove the two screws securing the speaker enclosure to the bottom frame. Lift the speaker and antenna module out of the case.

    Unscrew the logic board

    Remove the logic board screws, including the 4.8 mm standoff screw located near the center of the board. Keep track of each screw's location.

    Lift out the logic board

    Carefully pivot the bottom of the logic board up and lift it away from the frame. Ensure no ribbon cables catch on the board as you remove it.

    Unscrew four display corner screws

    Remove the four corner Phillips screws securing the screen assembly to the metal frame, taking care to keep their small washers attached.

    Loosen six display frame screws

    Loosen the six side screws holding the display brackets to the interior frame by about two full turns. Do not remove them completely.

    Pry away broken front display

    Insert a plastic opening pick between the display glass and the outer metal frame. Slide along the perimeter to break adhesive and lift the display off.

    Thread old cables through frame

    Guide the digitizer and LCD ribbon cables out through the narrow slot at the top of the frame as you lift the old screen clear.

    Thread new display cables

    Feed the ribbon cables of the replacement screen assembly through the top slot in the metal frame. Ensure cables lie flat and untwisted.

    Seat new screen into frame

    Align the screen with the frame and press it gently around all edges until it sits completely flush.

    Tighten display frame screws

    Reinstall the four corner screws with washers and tighten the six side frame screws to firmly lock the screen in place.

    Reinstall logic board and cables

    Lower the logic board back into position and reconnect all top ribbon cables along with the camera module. Fasten the board and shield screws.

    Reinstall speaker unit and battery

    Place the speaker assembly in the bottom, secure its screws, then reinsert the battery and fasten its connector bracket.

    Reassemble outer panels

    Insert the SIM tray, slide the rear cover back onto the frame, and secure the two bottom screws to finish.
