   Power off the iPhone 16e

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously until the slider appears. Slide to power down the device completely.

   Remove the bottom pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

   Heat the lower display edge

   Apply a heat gun set to low temperature along the bottom edge of the phone for approximately two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower third of the screen, just above the bottom glass edge, and press down firmly to seal.

   Create an opening gap

   Pull up on the suction cup with firm pressure to create a small gap between the screen assembly and the outer frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert the thin tip of an opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge of the phone.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the pick around the left and bottom edges of the display to slice through the adhesive seal holding the screen.

   Open the display assembly

   Gently swing the display open from the right side to the left like a book cover. Lean it against a steady object so you do not strain the ribbon cables.

   Unscrew the main board cover

   Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal lower logic board connector cover.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up off the logic board socket.

    Disconnect the display flex cables

    Use the spudger to disconnect the display and digitizer cables from the logic board, then set the screen aside.

    Remove upper bracket screws

    Unscrew the Phillips #000 screws holding the upper corner grounding bracket over the volume button module.

    Remove the volume button bracket

    Lift out the metal volume button bracket using precision tweezers to expose the underlying switch assembly.

    Disconnect the volume flex cable

    Pry the volume button flex connector off its socket on the upper section of the logic board.

    Peel out the volume button flex assembly

    Carefully slide a flat spudger under the volume button flex cable to separate it from the inner chassis wall.

    Clean button contacts and housing

    Apply a drop of 99% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to clean residual adhesive or debris from the internal button wells.

    Position the new volume button flex

    Align the replacement volume button flex cable inside the chassis wall and press down on the adhesive backing to secure it.

    Reinstall the volume button bracket

    Place the metal retaining bracket over the new volume switches and replace the securing screws until snug.

    Reconnect display and battery cables

    Press the display flex connectors and the battery connector back onto their logic board sockets until they snap into place.

    Apply display adhesive and close phone

    Apply fresh pre-cut perimeter adhesive, align the top edge of the display with the frame, and press firmly around all edges to seal.
