Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide the screen slider to power off. Ensure the phone is fully turned off before beginning.

Remove Bottom Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws located on either side of the bottom charging port.

Heat Front Screen Edges
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower edge of the display for two minutes to soften the waterproof perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the front glass, taking care not to overlap the display bezel.

Slice Lower Display Seal
3 minPull up firmly on the suction handle to create a tiny gap, then insert an opening pick under the display glass to cut through the bottom adhesive.

Slice Side Display Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick along the left and right edges to loosen the display seal, inserting the pick no deeper than 3 mm.

Open Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left side like a book cover. Prop the screen up against a sturdy object so it does not pull on the delicate flex cables.

Disconnect Battery Connector
3 minRemove the Tri-point Y000 screws securing the battery cover shield, remove the shield, and use a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery flex cable.

2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the lower loudspeaker and gently lift it out of the housing.

Disconnect Microphone Flex
2 minLocate the primary microphone flex connector on the lower circuit board and disconnect it using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove Damaged Microphone
3 minApply a small drop of isopropyl alcohol around the rubber microphone boot, then use precision tweezers to lift the microphone out of its recessed channel.

Install Replacement Microphone
3 minAlign the new microphone module into its lower housing channel and press firmly so the rubber seal sits completely flush.
