Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone 16e
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously until the sliders appear. Slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Warm the display edges
3 minApply a heated pad or heat gun set to low around the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach the suction handle
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the front screen, just above the USB-C port, and press down firmly to secure it.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minPull up on the suction handle to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then insert an opening pick and slide it around the perimeter.

Open the display assembly
2 minGently swing the screen open from the right edge toward the left side like a book cover. Rest it against a stable object so it does not strain the internal flex cables.

Unscrew the main board shield bracket
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point driver to remove the screws holding down the metal lower logic board connector shield.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minUse the pointed end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the display flex cables
3 minPry up the screen and digitizer flex cable connectors from the logic board using a spudger. Lift the display away from the frame and set it aside.

Remove the camera bracket and disconnect cameras
4 minUnscrew the upper shield cover using a Phillips #000 driver, then disconnect the rear camera assembly flex cables from the board.

Disconnect remaining logic board connections
5 minCarefully pry up the press connectors for the front sensor array, button flex cables, and USB-C tail connector.

Unscrew the logic board fasteners
4 minUse a standoff bit and Phillips #000 driver to remove all remaining retaining screws securing the logic board to the aluminum chassis.

Remove the logic board
3 minGently lift the logic board up from the bottom edge and tilt it out of the rear case, making sure no loose cables get snagged.

Rework broken solder joints or components
12 minApply soldering flux to the target area on the board and touch up damaged joints using a fine-tip soldering iron and desoldering braid as needed.

Reinstall the logic board
4 minLower the logic board back into the chassis top-first, seat it flat, and reinsert the standoff mounting screws.
