Step-by-step

Power down iPhone completely
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume up button, then slide to power off.

Remove lower pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws next to the USB-C charging port.

Heat lower display edge
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup to front glass
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the screen, just above the home edge.

Insert opening pick under lower seal
2 minPull up on the suction handle to create a gap and slide an opening pick into the lower seam.

2 minInsert a pick on the right edge and slide up toward the top corner to release the remaining side adhesive.

Unfasten display bracket screws
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal logic board cover bracket.

Remove metal connector bracket
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift out the logic board shield cover and set it aside.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off its socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Pull upper stretch-release strip
3 minPull the remaining adhesive tab horizontally away from the battery until the strip releases completely.

Remove degraded battery from chassis
1 minLift the battery out of the rear case using plastic opening tools.

Clean battery bay with isopropyl alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to clean away any leftover adhesive residue.

Seat new battery into housing
