Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide the power icon to turn off the phone completely.

Remove the bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C charging port.

Heat the lower edge of the display
2 minApply a hot hair dryer or heat gun to the bottom edge of the display for 2 minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive seal.

Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the front glass, just above the USB-C port, and press firmly to create a tight seal.

Insert an opening pick under the display
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the glass screen and the aluminum bezel, then slide an opening pick into the gap.

Slice the bottom display adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick carefully back and forth across the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive seal.

Slice the left edge adhesive
3 minContinue sliding the pick around the bottom-left corner and up the left side of the frame, stopping before the top corner.

Slice the right edge adhesive
3 minReinsert the pick at the bottom right and slide it up the right edge to release the adhesive along the side rail.

Open the display like a book
2 minGently swing the left side of the display open like a book cover, resting it against a stable object so the delicate cables are not strained.

Remove the battery connector cover screws
2 minUse a Y000 Tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower metal bracket over the battery press connector.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the pointed end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Unscrew the display cable bracket
2 minRemove the Y000 Tri-point screws securing the upper metal bracket that covers the display and sensor connectors.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to disconnect the display ribbon cable press connector from the logic board.

Separate the display assembly
1 minLift the display assembly completely off the frame and lay it on a clean, soft surface.

Clean residual adhesive from the frame
4 minScrape away remaining adhesive from the aluminum enclosure rim using tweezers, then wipe the edge with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply a new perimeter adhesive seal
3 minAlign the pre-cut display adhesive gasket over the housing edges, press it into place around the rim, and peel off the protective backing.

Connect the replacement display cable
2 minAlign the new screen's display connector over its logic board socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the battery press connector
1 minSnap the battery connector back onto its logic board socket to restore power connectivity.

Reinstall metal connector brackets
3 minPlace the connector covers over the logic board and tighten all Y000 screws securely into their original positions.

Align and press the display into the frame
2 minPosition the top edge of the display first, then lower the screen flat and gently press around all edges until it snaps flush into the bezel.

Reinstall the bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minInsert and tighten the two P2 Pentalobe screws on either side of the USB-C port using the P2 driver.
