Step-by-step

Power Off and Remove SIM Tray
1 minCompletely power down your iPhone 16. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole to eject and remove the SIM card tray.

Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat the Back Glass
2 minApply a heat gun on low or an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the back glass assembly, avoiding the extreme edge.

Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick under the back glass.

Slice Side Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick along the left and right edges to cut through the waterproof perimeter seal.

Open the Back Cover
1 minSwing the back glass open toward the right side like a book cover. Do not pull it completely away yet.

Remove Battery Bracket Screws
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 driver to remove the two screws securing the main battery connector cover plate.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its logic board socket using the edge of a spudger.

Remove Board Shield Bracket
2 minUnscrew the three Tri-point screws holding the upper logic board shield bracket and lift it off with tweezers.

Disconnect Display and Sensor Flexes
2 minUse a spudger to gently disconnect the display, digitizer, and top sensor flex cables from the logic board.

Disconnect Rear Camera Cables
2 minUnplug the rear camera module connectors attached near the top left corner of the logic board.

Disconnect Antenna and Lower Flexes
2 minPry up the lower dock flex cable and antenna coaxial connectors attached along the bottom edge of the board.

Remove Logic Board Screws
3 minUse a standoff screwdriver and Phillips #000 driver to remove the remaining retaining screws anchoring the logic board.

Extract the Logic Board
2 minCarefully grasp the edges of the logic board and tilt it up from the top edge to lift it out of the chassis.

Inspect and Repair Board
15 minExamine the logic board under a magnifying lens for shorted components or liquid damage and perform required micro-soldering.

Reseat the Logic Board
2 minLower the logic board back into position inside the housing, ensuring no flex cables are trapped beneath it.

Secure Board and Connectors
4 minReinstall all board standoff screws, reconnect all press connectors, and secure the metal brackets.

Reseal and Close Phone
3 minApply new perimeter adhesive, align the back cover, press firmly around the edges, and reinstall the bottom Pentalobe screws.
