Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to completely power down the device before beginning.

Remove Bottom Screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat Back Glass Seal
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower edge of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction handle onto the lower portion of the rear glass. Pull upward gently to create a small gap at the bottom seam.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge of the device.

Slice Perimeter Seal
4 minSlide the opening pick along the bottom and sides to slice through the perimeter adhesive. Keep the pick shallow on the right edge to avoid damaging internal cables.

Open Rear Glass
1 minGently swing the back glass open toward the right side like a book. Rest it against a stable object to prevent strain on the display flex cable.

Remove Lower Shield Screws
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal logic board connector cover.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Rear Glass Cable
1 minPry up the rear glass flex cable connector to completely free the back glass panel from the frame.

Remove Loudspeaker Screws
3 minUnscrew the fasteners securing the lower speaker assembly to the bottom of the enclosure.

Extract Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger under the speaker module and lift it out of the rear case.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the mounting screws securing the Taptic Engine linear vibrator near the bottom corner.

Extract Taptic Engine
2 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine flex connector and lift the module out of the chassis.

Remove USB-C Bracket Screws
3 minUnscrew the retaining screws holding the USB-C port housing and internal microphone brackets to the bottom frame.

Disconnect Port Assembly Flex
2 minPry the primary charging port flex cable connector off its socket on the logic board.

Peel Out Charging Port
3 minCarefully pry the adhesive-backed USB-C flex cable and microphone array off the bottom housing, then remove the entire assembly.

Install New Charging Port
4 minAlign the replacement USB-C port assembly into the bottom frame, press down the flex cable adhesive, and reconnect its board connector.
