Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 1.4 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat the lower display edge

Create a display gap
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to lift the screen and insert an opening pick into the gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick around the bottom and side edges to cut through the waterproof adhesive tape.

Open the display assembly
2 minGently swing open the display from the left side toward the right side, resting it against a stable object.

Remove battery connector bracket
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower metal cover plate.

Disconnect the battery
2 minPry the battery flex connector straight up from its socket on the logic board with a plastic spudger.

Disconnect display flex cables
3 minDisconnect the display cable and ambient light sensor cable, then set the screen assembly aside safely.

Remove power button bracket screws
3 minUnscrew the Tri-point screws holding the internal power button metal retaining bracket inside the right frame wall.

Remove power button metal bracket
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently pull the metal retaining bracket away from the power button assembly.

Detach power button flex cable
3 minCarefully peel the power button flex cable and integrated switch off the internal chassis wall.

Extract the physical power button
2 minPush the power button key inward from the exterior frame and retrieve it using tweezers.

Install new power button assembly
5 minInsert the replacement physical button, align the new flex cable, and reattach the metal bracket firmly with screws.
