Step-by-step

Turn off the iPhone
1 minPower down your iPhone 16 Pro completely before starting any disassembly.

Remove the Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat the lower display edge
2 minApply heat to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the screen just above the bottom bezel.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a gap, then slide a plastic pick into the seam.

Slice the screen adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around the edges of the display to separate the waterproof seal from the frame.

Open the display panel
2 minSwing the screen open from the right side like a book cover, resting it against a sturdy object.

Unscrew the main board bracket
3 minRemove the Tri-point Y000 screws securing the metal shield over the board connectors.

Disconnect the battery cable

Remove the display assembly

Unscrew the lower speaker
3 minRemove the retaining screws holding the loudspeaker module in the lower chassis.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minGently pry the loudspeaker up with a spudger and lift it out of the phone.

Unscrew the Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the screws holding the Taptic Engine vibration unit to the bottom of the case.

Remove the Taptic Engine
2 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine ribbon cable and lift the unit out of the housing.

Unscrew the USB-C port assembly
3 minRemove the screws securing the USB-C port housing and grounding brackets to the rear case.

Disconnect the charging port cable
2 minPry up the charging port flex connector from the bottom of the logic board.

Peel out the USB-C port assembly
3 minCarefully pry the microphone and charging port assembly away from the lower adhesive.

Install the new charging port
4 minSeat the new USB-C port assembly firmly into the lower housing and secure its flex cable.
