Step-by-step

Turn off the iPhone 16 Pro
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button until the power slider appears. Slide to completely power down the device.

Remove the bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 5.3 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Warm the lower display seal
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach suction cup to display
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the display glass, just above the USB-C port.

Slice bottom adhesive bond
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick under the screen's edge.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
5 minSlide the pick around the left, right, and top edges of the device to cut through the perimeter screen adhesive.

Open display to the right
1 minGently swing the screen open from the left side like the cover of a book, propping it against a stable object.

Remove lower bracket screws
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the six screws securing the main board bracket.

Lift off display cable bracket
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the metal shield bracket straight up and out of the phone.

Disconnect battery press connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery cable connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect display and ambient sensor cables
2 minPry the display flex cable and sensor assembly connectors straight up from the logic board using a spudger.

Separate display from chassis
1 minLift the entire display assembly off the frame and set it aside in a safe, clean place.

Unseat lower battery adhesive tabs
2 minUse tweezers to peel back the black pull-tab tips located at the bottom edge of the battery.

Pull lower battery adhesive strips
4 minSlowly pull each adhesive strip out horizontally at a flat angle until it releases completely from beneath the battery.

Pull upper battery adhesive strips
4 minPeel back and slowly pull the remaining adhesive tabs from the top edge of the battery using the same flat angle.

Pry out the old battery
3 minIf adhesive remains, apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the battery edges and lift it out gently with a plastic spudger.

Clean battery bay frame
2 minWipe down the inside chassis with lint-free wipes and isopropyl alcohol to clear away old adhesive residue.

Attach fresh battery adhesive strips
2 minApply new double-sided battery adhesive strips directly to the rear of the new replacement battery.

Press new battery into housing
2 minAlign the replacement battery in the chassis recess and press down firmly to secure the adhesive.

Reconnect display flex cables
2 minPosition the display near the chassis and press the sensor and display connectors onto the board until they snap in.

Secure display cable bracket
3 minPlace the metal shield over the connectors and install the six Tri-point screws to lock it into place.

1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and gently press down until it clicks.

Apply display perimeter seal
3 minLay a new pre-cut waterproof adhesive gasket along the outer edges of the phone frame.

Seal display onto chassis
2 minAlign the top edge of the screen with the frame and lower it down, pressing firmly along all edges to snap clips into place.

Install lower Pentalobe screws
1 minReinsert and tighten the two bottom 5.3 mm P2 Pentalobe screws beside the USB-C port.
