Step-by-step

Power Off iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button until the slider appears. Slide to power off completely before starting disassembly.

Remove Bottom Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat Display Edges
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the bottom edge of the screen for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive seal.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the screen just above the USB-C port. Pull upward firmly to create a small gap between the display bezel and frame.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert an opening pick into the small gap created by the suction cup at the bottom edge. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal ribbons.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the bottom and sides of the phone to cut through the waterproof adhesive seal.

Open Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left side like a book cover. Prop the display against a stable object so it does not strain the cables.

Remove Cable Cover Screws
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the main connector cover plate to the logic board.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up off its socket.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display and digitizer flex cables from the logic board using a spudger. Lift the display screen free and set it aside.

Remove Upper Bracket Screws
3 minUnscrew the Tri-point and Phillips screws securing the metal upper corner bracket near the power button. Lift off the bracket with tweezers.

Disconnect Power Button Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to carefully disconnect the power button flex cable connector from the logic board.

Unscrew Metal Button Bracket
3 minRemove the small Phillips screws securing the internal metal retaining bracket over the power button mechanism inside the frame.

Remove Damaged Power Button Assembly
3 minUse fine tweezers to remove the metal bracket and carefully peel the power button flex cable away from the internal frame wall.

Position Replacement Power Button
3 minAlign the new power button flex assembly into the frame recess. Press gently so the adhesive backing adheres to the enclosure.

Secure Power Button Bracket
3 minReinstall the internal metal button retaining bracket and tighten its Phillips screws until snug.

Reconnect Cable and Bracket
3 minSnap the power button flex cable back onto its logic board socket. Reinstall the upper protective corner shield and tighten its screws.

Apply Replacement Display Adhesive
4 minClean remaining old adhesive off the frame edges with isopropyl alcohol, then apply a fresh perimeter display adhesive seal.

Reconnect Display and Battery
3 minReconnect the display flex cables followed by the battery connector. Secure the main logic board cover plate with its screws.

Close Screen and Secure Screws
3 minAlign the top display tabs, press the screen into the frame until flush, and reinstall the two bottom Pentalobe screws.
