Turn Off iPhone

2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Apply Heat to Edges
3 minWarm an iOpener or use a heat gun along the bottom edge and sides of the front glass for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
2 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower third of the screen, just above the USB-C port, and pull up firmly to create a small gap between the glass and frame.

Slice Screen Seal
4 minInsert a thin opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it along the bottom and left edge to slice through the adhesive seal.

Open Display Panel
2 minCarefully swing the display open from the left side like a book, taking care not to strain the flex cables along the right edge.

Remove Battery Shield Screws
3 minUnscrew the three Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower metal cover bracket over the battery and display connectors.

Detach Battery Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently lever the battery press connector straight up off the logic board to kill power.

Disconnect Screen Flex Cables
2 minDisconnect the display ribbon cable and sensor assembly cable from the logic board using a plastic spudger.

Remove Lower Speaker Screws
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the lower enclosure.

Pry Out Loudspeaker
2 minGently insert a spudger under the loudspeaker housing and lift it straight up and out of the phone body.

Remove Microphone Bracket Screws
3 minUnscrew the two Phillips screws holding the primary microphone and USB-C assembly retaining bracket in place.

Detach Lower Microphone Assembly
3 minUse precision tweezers to lift the primary microphone out of its recessed rubber gasket at the bottom of the case.

Install New Microphone Flex Cable
4 minPosition the replacement microphone module firmly into its rubber alignment boot and secure the metal retaining bracket with screws.

Apply Display Adhesive
5 minClean remaining old glue off the aluminum perimeter with isopropyl alcohol, then align and lay down a fresh pre-cut adhesive seal.

Connect Display and Battery
3 minReconnect the display cables and press the battery connector back into place on the logic board until they click.

Secure Shield Brackets and Close
4 minReinstall the metal bracket screws, swing the display shut, press firmly along the edges to seal, and reinstall the two bottom Pentalobe screws.
