   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button along with either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely before starting.

   Remove bottom Pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C charging port.

   Apply heat to lower screen edge

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the bottom edge of the iPhone for 2 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Attach suction cup to screen

   Place a suction cup onto the lower third of the display assembly, just above the USB-C port.

   Slice display adhesive seal

   Pull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick to slice through the adhesive around all four edges.

   Open screen assembly

   Swing the display open from the left side like a book cover. Lean the screen against a sturdy object so it does not strain the flex cables.

   Remove battery bracket screws

   Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower metal cover plate over the battery connector.

   Disconnect battery cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket.

   Remove display bracket screws

   Unscrew the Tri-point screws holding the upper logic board shield in place and set the bracket aside.

    Disconnect display cable

    Pry the display flex connector straight up from the logic board using a plastic spudger, then set the screen assembly aside.

    Unscrew TrueDepth camera bracket

    Remove the retaining screws holding the metal bracket over the top Face ID / TrueDepth sensor assembly.

    Disconnect Face ID module flex cables

    Carefully pry up the press connectors for the dot projector and infrared camera using pointed tweezers or a spudger.

    Lift out TrueDepth camera module

    Gently lift the TrueDepth camera and Face ID sensor assembly out of its recessed housing in the top frame.

    Install replacement Face ID module

    Position the new TrueDepth sensor assembly into the recessed frame alignment slots.

    Connect Face ID flex cables

    Align and snap down the flex cable connectors for the new sensor module onto the logic board.

    Reinstall TrueDepth bracket

    Place the metal retaining bracket over the Face ID module and secure it with its original screws.

    Reconnect display and battery cables

    Snap the display connector and battery connector back onto the logic board, then reattach their metal brackets.

    Reseal and close screen assembly

    Align the top edge of the display with the frame, press firmly down along the sides to seat the clips, and reinstall the two Pentalobe bottom screws.
