Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume up button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 7.7 mm screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat the back glass
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower edge of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the back glass panel, just above the USB-C port.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic opening pick under the back glass edge.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick carefully around the left, bottom, and right edges to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Open the back glass panel
2 minGently swing open the back glass toward the right side like a book cover. Prop it up to prevent strain on the ribbon cable.

Remove the connector bracket screws
2 minUse a Tri-Point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower connector shield bracket.

Detach the connector bracket
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the metal bracket off the lower logic board connections.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket using a spudger to prevent electrical damage.

Disconnect the back glass cable
1 minDisconnect the back glass flex connector and lift the back glass completely off the phone body.

Remove the loudspeaker screws
3 minRemove the Tri-Point and Phillips screws securing the bottom loudspeaker module to the chassis.

Pry up the loudspeaker
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the top edge of the loudspeaker assembly and pry gently upward.

Remove the old loudspeaker
1 minLift the faulty loudspeaker module out of the bottom housing and set it aside.

Insert the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the lower housing and press it into place.

Secure the loudspeaker screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the screws securing the new loudspeaker to the phone frame.

Reconnect the back glass cable
1 minAlign and press down on the back glass ribbon cable connector until it clicks into position.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery connector firmly back into its logic board socket.

Reinstall the connector bracket
2 minPlace the metal shield bracket back over the connectors and tighten the Tri-Point Y000 screws.

Seal and close the back glass
3 minPress the back glass firmly into the chassis frame and reinstall the two lower Pentalobe screws.
