Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone

2 minRemove the Tri-point screws securing the metal retention bracket over the Face ID TrueDepth module.

Remove TrueDepth bracket
1 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the metal retention bracket off the TrueDepth assembly.

Disconnect Face ID module
2 minGently pry up the TrueDepth camera and Face ID sensor ribbon connectors from the logic board.

Extract Face ID module
2 minCarefully lift the original Face ID sensor camera assembly out of the housing using ESD tweezers.

Position replacement module
2 minPlace the new Face ID TrueDepth module into its chassis recess and align the ribbon connectors.

Connect Face ID cables
2 minGently press the replacement Face ID ribbon connectors onto the logic board sockets until they snap in.

Secure TrueDepth bracket
2 minReinstall the metal retention bracket over the Face ID module and tighten its securing screws.

Reconnect display and battery
2 minAttach the display flex cable and reconnect the battery press connector to the logic board.

Reseal and close device
3 minApply new display frame adhesive, align the top edge of the screen, and press firmly around the edges to seal.
