   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously, then slide the screen toggle to power off. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Remove the pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 7.7 mm screws located on the bottom edge near the charging port. Store them safely in an organizer tray.

   Heat the lower rear glass

   Apply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the back glass for about two minutes. This softens the factory perimeter adhesive seal.

   Attach the suction cup

   Press a suction cup tool firmly onto the bottom section of the rear glass. Gently pull up on the handle to create a tiny gap along the bottom seam.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge. Keep the pick shallow to prevent damaging internal ribbon cables.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around the bottom, left, and right edges to slice through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

   Open the back glass

   Gently swing the back glass open toward the right side like a book. Prop it up against a sturdy object so it does not put tension on the internal ribbon cable.

   Unscrew the lower connector cover

   Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the metal lower connector bracket. Place the bracket and screws aside.

   Remove the lower connector cover

   Use precision tweezers to lift the metal shield off the board. Set it in your parts tray.

    Disconnect the rear glass cable

    Pry the back glass press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a spudger. Remove the back glass assembly entirely.

    Unscrew the Taptic Engine bracket

    Remove the two Tri-point Y000 screws securing the metal bracket over the Taptic Engine assembly. Lift away the metal shield with tweezers.

    Disconnect and remove the Taptic Engine

    Disconnect the Taptic Engine flex cable using a spudger, then remove its remaining mounting screws. Lift the Taptic Engine out of the frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker screws

    Remove the four screws securing the loudspeaker assembly to the bottom frame using Phillips #000 and Tri-point screwdrivers. Keep track of screw sizes.

    Remove the loudspeaker assembly

    Insert a spudger under the loudspeaker module and pry it gently up from the enclosure. Remove it from the phone.

    Disconnect the USB-C flex cable

    Use a flat-head spudger to snap the USB-C port flex connector straight off the logic board socket.

    Unscrew the USB-C port housing

    Remove the three Phillips #000 screws securing the USB-C port fixture into the bottom edge of the aluminum frame.

    Peel up and remove the USB-C assembly

    Carefully pry the flexible ribbon cable off the frame adhesive using a plastic spudger. Slide the complete USB-C charging port assembly out.

    Install the new USB-C assembly

    Position the replacement USB-C port into the bottom frame opening. Press the flex cable into place along the adhesive channel.

    Secure the USB-C port screws

    Reinstall and tighten the three Phillips #000 screws anchoring the USB-C port to the lower chassis. Ensure it rests completely flush.

    Connect the USB-C flex cable

    Align the press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the loudspeaker module

    Lower the loudspeaker assembly back into its bottom recess and replace its four mounting screws.

    Reinstall the Taptic Engine

    Place the Taptic Engine into the chassis, reconnect its flex connector, and secure its mounting screws and metal shield.

    Reconnect the rear glass cable

    Hold the rear glass close to the right edge, press the flex connector into its socket, and reinstall the lower connector bracket with its two Y000 screws.

    Reseal and close the back glass

    Align the rear glass precisely onto the frame and press firmly along the perimeter until it snaps shut. Reinstall the two P2 pentalobe bottom screws.
